4 MY DISCUSSIONS 

This section allows to leave messages for your friends and visitors of your portfolio and to discuss various topics in the forum.

4.1 MESSAGES 

The Messages link opens a full list of currently published messages.

 

4.1.1 Adding Messages

To create a new message:

1. Enter the messages list and press the New button at the top of the page and select Message.

 

 

2. Fill out the form fields of the form that will appear as described below (fields marked with an asterisk are required to be filled):

 

- Title – enter the name of the new message (the field is required to be filled out);

- Message - enter the body of the message (the field is required to be filled out).

 

To attach a file to the message press the Attach File link and browse the necessary file in the opened form. Click Ok to attach the file; click Cancel to discard the changes.

 

3. When finished, click Ok either at the top or at the bottom of the form to add the message; click Cancel to discard changes and close the form.

4.1.2 Viewing Messages

To view a message:

§ Point over the necessary message, then click on its name.

§ Select View Item in the drop-down list and press it. You’ll be redirected to the page with the message

 

 

The header of the form comprises all the rest of the menu options for managing the message. Buttons at the top of the message form allow you to perform the following operations:

§ Click New Item to create a new message;

§ Click Edit Item to modify the message;

§ Click Delete Item to delete the message;

§ Click Manage Permissions to assign users and group permissions to this item.

§ Click Alert Me to manage notification settings.

§ When done, press the Close button.

4.1.3 Editing Messages

To edit a message:

1. Point over the necessary message, then click on its name.

2. Select Edit Item in the drop-down list and press it. You’ll be redirected to the editing page.

3. Modify the necessary fields.

4. Save the changes by pressing the Ok button.

4.1.4 Deleting Messages

To delete a message:

1. Point over the necessary message, then click its name.

2. Select Delete Item in the drop-down list and press it.

3. Confirm the deletion. The item will be sent to the Recycle Bin of the site.

 

4.2 TEACHERS SPACE 

The Teachers Space link allows teachers to write messages to student. Note that only teachers are entitled to add messages in this space.

 

 

4.2.1 Adding Messages

To create a new message:

1. Enter the teachers space section and press the New button at the top of the page and select Message.

 

 

2. Fill out the form fields of the form that will appear as described below (fields marked with an asterisk are required to be filled):

 

- Title – Enter the name of the new message (the field is required to be filled out);

- Message – enter the body of the message (the field is required to be filled out);

 

To attach a file to the message press the Attach File link and browse the necessary file in the opened form. Click Ok to attach the file; click Cancel to discard the changes.

 

3. When finished, click Ok either at the top or at the bottom of the form to add the message; click Cancel to discard changes and close the form.

4.2.2 Viewing Teachers Messages

4.2.4 Deleting Teachers Messages

2. Select Delete Item in the drop-down list and press it.

3. Confirm the deletion. The item will be sent to the Recycle Bin of the site.

 

4.3 FORUM 

The Forum link allows to use the Team Discussion list to hold newsgroup-style discussions on topics relevant to your team.

 

4.3.1 Adding Discussion Topic

To create a topic:

1. Enter the discussion topics list and press the New button at the top of the page and select Discussion.

 

 

2. Fill out the form fields of the form that will appear as described below (fields marked with an asterisk are required to be filled):

 

- Subject – enter the name of the new topic (the field is required to be filled out);

- Body – enter the description of the topic.

 

To attach a file to the topic press the Attach File link and browse the necessary file in the opened form. Click Ok to attach the file; click Cancel to discard the changes.

 

3. When finished, click Ok either at the top or at the bottom of the form to add the topic; click Cancel to discard changes and close the form.

4.3.2 Viewing Discussion Topics

To view a topic:

§ Point over the necessary topic, then click on its name.

§ Select View Item in the drop-down list and press it. You’ll be redirected to the page with the topic

§ Click Edit Item to modify the topic;

§ Click Delete Item to delete the topic;

4.3.3 Editing Discussion Topic

To edit a topic:

1. Point over the necessary topic, then click on its name.
